swim 32:26 t1 1:40 Bike: 1:02:47 23.8 T2 0:53 Run: 39:58 6:26- Total2:17:42 2 minute penalty
Swam up river for most of the swim we figure it was about 10 minutes longer. I had a great race kinda.... Good swim, solid bike, and a tuff run the first 3.5 miles then the my legs got that tingling sensation and off I went. The best finish ever, was in the finishing chute with another guy from my age group and we started to sprint for the line, and I went by him so fast I burned the hair off his legs. The run was about a half mile short which explains how I managed to walk some of the hills and still have a sub 40 10K.
Finished 20th overall before the penalty of drafting and went down to 23rd. I do admit being a little too close and I should have been penalized.. I didn't really mean to draft we were on a descent and I was head down and driving pretty hard and when I looked up I was about a bike length back from another bike but I didn't want to pass so I slowed down going back onto the flats and when I looked over there the po po was, busted.

JOSH SHIELDS
NEWNAN GA swim 31:13 Bike 02:39:19 Run 1:38:12

Fastest swim in my start group. Very suprising.
Not to shabby, the course that everybody says is hilly really is very hilly. But what goes up must come down.

John Tanner Sprint
Finished 59:46 I had 13 seconds to spare. Had an unusually hard swim, good bike, and heavy run. I was able to push hard the last half mile and hold a 5:45 to pull the average run pace down to a 6:23 pace. Until that point I was struggling to hold a 6:40 pace. Can't wait to see what a tapper does for me in PTC in three weeks.

End of Blog
Well I have decided to end my days as a blogger. I am sure you guys (all 3 of you) are going to miss it very much but I am trying to simplify my life and blogging is definitely an additional task that is very time consuming. I originally thought as I wrote it would become easier but that never really happened. I will continue to use the blog for a way to keep up with benchmarks and maybe a race report or two. But I will keep it as simple and quick as possible.
My first blog was March 5, 2008 and now my last blog a year later. Thanks for reading and for your encouragement.
